In the first part of the book it explores, in great detail, things you have to take into consideration before making your choice of whether to leave paid employment to stay at home. The second part of the book provides you with lots of practical ways and tips to save money and live well on one income.

The author, Ellie Kay, a family financial expert, talks you through specific cost cutting strategies, such as coupon cutting, comparison shopping, cutting food bills in half, cutting debts and clothing costs, saving money on vacations.

I like the fact that the book comes with charts, worksheets and plans to work from to explore the feasibility of staying at home and living on one income. Also included are real life stories, which make this book a very interesting and informative read.

Overall, the book is a great guide for any couple trying to figure out if they can live on one income and make it work.

If you are lucky enough to fall within the age bracket of between 20 to 35years old and want to learn more about how you achieve personal freedom, i.e. managing your personal finances appropriately, this book was written for you. The author, Ramit Sethi, provides you with a six week, step-by-step program and a wealth of sound advice on how to get started on your way to financial security.

I like that he doesn’t preach, instead he brings his ideas across in an entertaining, easy-to-read, but very practical and down-to earth style. He talks about the important parts of achieving financial independence, banking, saving, budgeting and investing, and how to do it wisely.

The book - I Will Teach You To Be Rich can be read in conjunction with his website, iwillteachyoutoberich.com, where he provides you with the latest and up-to-date information, a financial blog, and more advice on how to build your own personal wealth.

Overall, I like the fact that the author writes in a clear and to-the-point language on how to implement his many suggestions on conscious budgeting and spending. Learn how to manage your student loans, the low-down on credit cards and bank fees, how to be frugal without being cheap and other invaluable advice.

One of the Customer Reviews By Susan Roberts

5 stars: Not your parents’ money management book, March 23, 2009
This review is from: I Will Teach You To Be Rich (Paperback)

First, here’s what this book is not: It’s not your parents’ money management and investing book, although as a parent I wish I had done in my twenties what Ramit Sethi tells the twenty-somethings they should be doing right now.

Ramit starts with the premise that most people are so overwhelmed by the sheer amount of financial information available that they just shut down and do nothing. So Ramit tells you exactly what to do with your money and why. Want to know whether it’s smarter to pay extra on your student loans or put that money into your 401(k) instead? Ramit will tell you. Want to know some specific financial companies that offer the low-cost index funds you should invest in through your Roth IRA? Ramit will tell you. Do you not even know what the heck an index fund is? Ramit will tell you!

Ramit also tells the truth about brown bagging your lunch and curbing your latte habit; and the truth is that these actions on their own are virtually pointless. Instead, you should go after the big wins, like getting the lowest interest rate and the best price on your next car because you have impeccable credit and negotiated “like an Indian” (negotiation scripts included).

Ramit maps out exactly how to get from where you are now to where you want to be financially, including how to create a personal money management system that practically manages itself. Ramit’s system starts with a no-fee checking account and an online high-interest savings account. (He even tells you which online bank he uses.) He then walks you through setting up automatic bill payments and regularly scheduled transfers to your investment accounts. Throughout, he includes easy-to-understand charts, as well as short pieces by other personal finance bloggers.

I wish I could quote some of the passages that I found especially useful or entertaining–Ramit writes with an appealing, if oddball, humor–but I have already mailed my copy of the book to my 24-year-old son, who called me last night to tell me it never would’ve occurred to him to ask his bank to waive an overdraft fee. (That gem is in chapter 2, I think.)

Thank you, Ramit! I hope this enthusiastic review by an “old person” will not stop the young people from buying your book!

Family Feasts for $75 a Week: A Penny-wise Mom Shares Her Recipe for Cutting Hundreds from Your Monthly Food Bill

If you need some help in your quest to achieve frugality, have a look at the book “Family Feasts for $75 a Week”. I am always on the look-out for advice and tips to stay within my budget, especially when it comes to food. It is amazing, how much money you can save food shopping and still eat well, if you know how to. The above mentioned book is a great resource on how to achieve frugality, even in your busy schedule with work and family.

The author is a mother of 10 and amazingly feeds her family well on a shoestring. In her book she gives lots of helpful tips on how to create weekly menu plans, how to be a savvy shopper, writing your grocery lists (and sticking to them). The book also includes lots of delicious, time-saving and money-saving recipes your whole family (and your wallet) will enjoy. Saving money on your weekly food shop will not only feel great, but also give you the opportunity to save up for something special: a family outing, a night out at the movies with the whole family or even a little vacation. Having a dream or goal will help make the changes to more frugal living easier.

Overall, I think that this book is a great read. The author shows the reader, if they are interested to take it on, that making a big dent in your grocery bill doesn’t mean you need to spend hours and hours in the kitchen, on top of your busy life, or eat food you don’t really like. She shows you how to make saving plans. So, if you take on her tips and tricks, you’ll discover that it is not only fun to save money on food shopping, but that you can save your money for something the whole family will enjoy.

I was all set last night to sit down and write my thorough praises of Mary Ostyn’s new book, Family Feasts for $75 a Week, when my husband blithely reviewed the book better than I could have in pages with one sentence:

As I sat cackling over the money I’ve saved since reading a pre-publication copy of this book a month ago I said to Ryan, “I can’t believe how much money we’ve saved this month! I’ve cut our budget by 50% and I think I could easily go lower if we needed to.” To which he replied, “That’s insane, because we have been eating really well recently, too!” High praise coming from a man whose own mother (an amazing cook) dubbed him The Food Diva several years back when he commented on the amount of carrots she’d used in a favorite dish of his when we were home visiting for Christmas.

In case you aren’t already heading out to order a copy of the book based just on that, let me elaborate just a little. Because if you’re anything like me you might be thinking, “Come on, seriously. Do we really need another book on how to save money on groceries and inexpensive recipes to feed our families? How many tater-tot casseroles with cheese whiz and Ritz cracker toppings can a girl try?”

If that’s you, I’m with yah sister. But let me just mention a couple of things.

1. Delicious Recipes Suited to Any Skill Level: While Mary DOES mention tater tots once in her book it is only to tell you how much better homemade fries are. Not only that, but she upgrades the oven fries with her own homemade Ethiopian seasoning mix (and provides several other easy suggestions for seasonings if a mouth on fire is not your particular version of tasty). And all joking about those spuds aside, her recipes are seriously good, seriously easy and seriously cost effective.

In particular I must recommend her Thai chicken curry dish for which you can make your own curry paste and even your own coconut milk if you don’t have a can on hand but do have some shaved coconut in the freezer. Another favorite already is her suggested recipe for making your own granola cereal. (As I stood at the counter breaking up my first batch, chest swelled with pride, my husband gave me a smooch and seriously appreciative squeeze and raved about how amazing it was that I could make something like that all on my own. Sorry, Mary, I took that compliment for my own and didn’t re-mention the fact that I’d learned it from the book.)

2. Flexible Ideas on Cost Cutting that Allow You to Create Your Own Plan: One of the frustrating things about many books like these is that, in order for the system to work, you have to change a million things all at once and after about two weeks (for the very strong and enduring, perhaps three), the whole thing goes out the window because it’s just too hard to maintain so much change all at once. Mary, however, is very clear about her desire for readers not to make this mistake. Instead you’re given four areas in which you can assess your strengths and weaknesses and then a ton of ideas to choose from in each of those areas to begin the process. This book’s plan is laid out like an a la carte menu of great ideas that you can tailor fit to your needs and your money-saving goals.

I hate to admit it but I’m the queen of starting strong, getting over my head, and fizzling out completely on things. This is something I dislike about myself and have been working hard to overcome. But ladies, this process has been seriously painless so far and the benefits have far outweighed the effort. Oh and another thing? You don’t have to use coupons! (But you can if you need to do penance or something.)

3. An Easy and Interesting Read that Gets Right Down to the Issues and Lets You Start Saving Almost Immediately: I got this book on a Sunday. Inspired, I refused to go to the grocery store until Wednesday because I could see in my own kitchen several different great meals I could already make with things I had in the house. During that time I was able to use small portions of my time each day to figure out what changes I could make, lay out my plan, and embark. Holding on to just a few of the ideas I’d found in the book I set out my first week and was delighted with every grocery receipt I collected because I knew I was making wiser decisions already.

I am torn between a desire to be completely honest about improvements to our grocery budget because it’s so amazing and wanting to hide from shame about how easily I have saved so much in my first month of using <em>Family Feasts for $75 a Week. I have literally saved several hundred dollars this month. I thought at first that I was unique in how much waste was happening in our home but a few conversations with friends let me know that I am certainly not alone. Some of my joking, if I’m honest, is to distract from the fact that it was painful to realize just how much room for improvement there was. I found myself in tears at one point as I worked through my new budgeting plan and list of easy changes – it was a mixture of regret over the waste I could now see over the last 5 years of my marriage and relief to have found in Mary’s advice a workable, helpful and thorough means by which to improve so drastically.

In Titus 2, Paul admonishes older women to come alongside younger women and, among many other important things, train them in the ways of their home. Mary has shared the resulting wisdom of years of experience, trial, error and success in this new book and it’s a fantastic boon to those of us who still have a lot of learning to do. In future I plan on giving this book for wedding shower presents so that my friends can start out ahead of the game in feeding their families well on a frugal but flexible budget.

I could not recommend Family Feasts for $75 a Week more highly.

It not only saves you money, but will reduce the stress factor because you don’t have to find “time” to use those impulsive buys. This book contains fantastic ideas for ways to save on beauty, household, travel, entertainment and more. It shows you almost exactly how much it costs to run your household appliances, which could be a big eye opener. It simply works by connecting your appliances with the Kill A Watt device and the energy consumption will be displayed on the big LCD screen.

A great feature, in my opinion, is the fact the device allows you to calculate the expenses for all appliances and give you predicted daily, weekly, monthly or yearly forecasts. The Voltage, Line Frequency and Power Factor readings will give you valuable information on the quality of your power or if you might benefit from investing in a new appliance.

Overall, this little device is very helpful in finding appliances that just sit and draw unnecessary energy. You’d be amazed how much an entertainment unit on standby mode actually costs. If you are eco-conscious and money-conscious, it is definitely worth owning and using the Kill A Watt EZ Electricity Usage Monitor.

One of the Customer Reviews – By B. T. Denyer “Graphic designer” (Midwest, United States)

5 stars: Works great; fast results., May 4, 2008
This review is from: P3 International P4460 Kill A Watt EZ Electricity Usage Monitor (Electronics)

I was amazed at some of the things I found around the house that draw power just sitting there doing nothing. This thing is easy to figure out and program in your cost per Kwh.

A couple of things I found by using this device:
– the entertainment center costs me $11 a year to have just sit there in standby mode. This is a 32″ LCD TV, surroundsound system, DVD player, Wii, and subwoofer all plugged into a Monster HTS 1000 MKIII PowerCenter with Clean Power Stage 2 (8 AC outlet, 2 coax, phone & network). If I watch a DVD or play the Wii, it costs me 40 cents a day, or about 3.33 cents an hour.
– My gaming computer (Dual Core, 500 watt power supply and 19″ LCD) cost me $99 a year to run 24 hours a day, 6 days a week. That includes the occasional laser printing and occasional 2.1 speaker usage. So I turn it off more often.
– Cell phone charger: .86 cents a year, but when charging it costs me $1.73 a year.
– New coffee pot costs me between 5-7 cents to brew a pot of coffee and let it sit for a couple hours.
– Toaster at 350-degrees costs me about 11 cents an hour.
– Dell laptop charger costs me about $1.70 a year to keep it plugged in. It’s about a penny and hour to charge the laptop’s battery.
– NOAA handheld weather radio costs 86 cents a year to run 24/7

In the end, it seems like it is only really worth the trouble to unplug the entertainment center when not in use and turn off the computer more often. Sure, everything draws power, but we factored in the hassle of it versus the cost.

We have been unplugging stuff around the house when we are not using it, and began to wonder how much we are saving. This thing has helped out in deciding what’s worth going through the hassle of unplugging each time, and the results are almost instantaneous. I highly recommend using this device to settle the score in the fight against wasted energy usage or even in helping decide which devices/appliances around your house aren’t worth owning due to ridiculous power draws.

It’s no easy feat deciding on which business idea to go with or what you should do to make money online when you are first starting out. There are so many people out there offering up their advice it’s hard to figure out who you should listen to!

That’s why I just love the eGuides over at JustAddSweat.com. Of course I had to check them out before believing they could offer me a way to make money with my own business. I started by checking out the ‘How to Start a Crafts Blog for Fun and Profit’.

After reading the guide I had a very clear understanding of how to get a blog up, and what things I can do to start creating a profit with that blog.

The creators of the guides, JoAnne Westcott and Nicole Dean, are successful business owners who were sick of the hype and poor-quality business advice out there so they decided to create these guides.

What’s included:
·	Ideas for types of craft blogs to start.
·	Definition of a blog.
·	How to set up and use your blog.
·	How you can make money blogging.
·	How to choose your market.
·	What to blog about.
·	How to get traffic to your blog and make money.

One thing that’s great about this guide is the step by step instructions, audio and videos that guide you through setting up your first blog. As you’re reading through you can have your first blog set up in a very short period of time by following what’s been laid out for you. There are audio and video portions to go with these blog setup instructions too, so you learn by your preferred method.

One thing I feel it’s missing is a bit more instruction on how to write great blog posts. I think some people who are new to internet businesses may not understand what people who come visit blogs are looking to read so I think this would be helpful.

In the appendix section there is a list that explains everything you need for setting up your business and blog, which is great for people just starting out.

There is real value in this product and for one great price you get a 35-page eGuide, a SweatStory Success interview, audio blog tips, bonus Time Management Guide and a 2009 Blogging Calendar.

I’m sure you know that craft information is high demand, and people just love to get as much information they can about crafts. By starting this type of blog you’ll be starting a topic that is near and dear to many people.

Find out all about it by visiting JustAddSweat.com now:
If you want to find out how to make money with a blog, this book is a good way to start it.

Rob Benwell, the creator of Blogging to the Bank has made a lot of money through creating multiple blogs, not from specializing in one area.

1. What Is Blogging To The Bank 3.0 All About?

Automation is the key when it comes to making money. Not only will your site be working for you 24/7 you will also be able to check on it for a few hours a day and then go about your day. This method is going to show you how to build your business with a step by step blueprint for making serious money on the web.

For some, blogging is still a little new but people have been doing this for a long time. There is some competition out there but if you know what you are doing and how to do it, you will be able to jump ahead of the rest and do very well with your blog.

2. Does The Blogging To The Bank 3.0 Really Work?

The information that you are going to receive from Blogging to the Bank comes from someone that has been doing this for quite some time. You will see from the website the kind of money that is already being made from blogging and know that you can do the same thing and get the same sort of results.

Of course, not everyone is going to have the same end result. Some will make more than others. You will have to put forth some sort of effort to get started and make the program work for you. Once you have everything in place, you will be able to sit back and watch your bank account grow as if you planted a tree.

3. Is The Blogging To The Bank 3.0 System Right for You?

Now is the time to get started with your new venture. The longer you sit there and think about it, someone else has already signed up and is making money. Take advantage of this great offer before it disappears and you have to wait for the next go around.

The way he operates is as follows-

1. Research the web using keyword tools, Google and Clickbank to find where the hungry crowd and money is and give them what they want.

The fact that you have no interest in the niche is irrelevant..if you want to make money with a blog.

2. Use WordPress to set up your blogs and make sure to choose a domain name that is optimized to get traffic

3. Install the plug ins that he recommends which will optimize your blog for humans and search engines

4. Write content or outsource it for the particular niche

5. Promote your blog through SEO and Web 2.0 methods and drive traffic to your blog

6. Sell Clickbank products and use Adsense from Google to monetize

7. Rinse and repeat..do it again and again and ramp up the successful niches and abandon the losers.

Blogging to the Bank 3.0 ebook is quite short..and to the point.

This is the updated and expand version of the Dave Ramsey’s original book about how to overcome debt and manage your own personal finances. Current book extends to new chapters like relationship between money matters and family matters.

When it comes to solving money problems, Dave Ramsey knows what he is talk about. He filed bankruptcy when he was 30 which he lost his whole entire real estate fortune. This straightforward guide to fiscal tranquility covers the basics of career (work hard in a job you’re good at), savings (sock away 10% of your take-home pay), investments (invest long-term with pretax dollars) and spending (live below your income).

The new chapters offer financial advice for singles, spouses and parents-agreeing on money matters, Ramsey says, leads to “fabulous unity” in a marriage.

In this new edition of Financial Peace, Ramsey has updated his tactics and philosophy to show even more readers:

* how to get out of debt and stay out
* the KISS rule of investing-”Keep It Simple, Stupid”
* how to use the principle of contentment to guide financial decision making
* how the flow of money can revolutionize relationships

With practical and easy to follow methods and personal anecdotes, Financial Peace is the road map to personal control, financial security, a new, vital family dynamic, and lifetime peace.

A reader’s testimonial – Tom Carpenter (Marysville, OH)
I’ve read at least two dozen books on money management and wealth creation, including the Rich Dad series (which is also great by the way), and I have to place this book in the number one spot. I’ve purchased copies for many friends and family members and continually recommend it to people in my seminars. I really believe it can change your life… it did for me.

I was working hard and earning a great income of more than $100k per year, but I was also spending it all. Then changes came and I plunged down, suddenly, to less than $35k per year. For some people that’s a lot of money, but imagine you’ve been earning $35k per year and suddenly it fell to $15-18k – that’s about what I felt like emotionally. Then I cam across Dave’s materials and my life was literally unlocked.

I learned that I needed to manage my money to manage the rest of my life. I discovered that stress can disappear – even in the modern world – when you’ve taken care of your primary needs first and provided a security blanket for the future.

Today, I have a bank account that will keep me going for about a year even if my funds were completely cut of and, borrowing from another excellent book, I have multiple streams of income.

Since reading Dave’s book, I’ve read the entire Rich Dad series, the Multiple Streams of Income and Multiple Streams of Internet Income books and many others on finances.
One of the most popular best-selling books, Judy Lawrence’s The Budget Kit is exactly what a family needs to manage their finances.

The product review description of this book highlights how you can learn to:

* “Create a simple, functional system for managing your finances, with or without financial software
* Navigate the latest developments in the paperless world of electronic banking
* Discover the freedom of being able to achieve your personal and financial goals
* Make a plan to pay off debt and plan for the future”

At an affordable price of $13.57, this book has been used by more consumers than any other. The Budget Kit utilizes a system of accounting that is easy to follow due to the included work sheets that gives you the opportunity to track every expense down to the last penny.

The book is an 8 ½” x 11″, and the inside pages are perforated so each worksheet can be torn out and placed in a binder. The book contains a year’s worth of monthly worksheets.

Families who have used this book for their household budgeting have found it to be an “eye-opener.” Moreover, it allows you to keep track of what you actually spend each month. It has afforded those who have not been able to stick to a budget to do so in a realistic manner. The Common Cents pages in this book have made a significant difference in how money is tracked and spent.

The book itself contains worksheets for tracking income, recording non-monthly expenses, recording subscriptions, recording credit card purchases, recording debt payment, tracking debt payoff, tracking savings, planning gifts, planning holiday expenses, recording online and mail order purchases, recording wants and needs, recording financial goals, a Monthly Budget Worksheet, and more.

Everyone who has used The Budget Kit agrees that they have saved money time and time again because this system is better than any software available today.

Oftentimes, when presented with new financial software programs, they work as long as you have the commitment to follow through. But, after a while, you may skip a few months and then abandon the program altogether.

With The Budget Kit, you don’t need a computer – all you need is to devote two hours a month recording income and expenditures. Think of it as a visual aid that can teach you what habits need to be modified in order to change the mindset that will lead you to a healthier financial outcome.

Review
“A foolproof way to organize and maintain a personal budget.”—Publisher’s Weekly

“I recommend The Budget Kit over other budget books because it doesn’t just give you blank spaces to fill in. It really explains the hows and whys. Even if you’re already in debt it can help you pay off those debts when you know where the money is.”—Terry Savage, Author, The Savage Truth on Money

Filled with games, activities, trip ideas and way to keep your children from being bored are what you’ll find inside. Keeping summer a memorable and enjoyable time for everyone is what it’s all about.

I used to dread the last day of school. Not because my children would be home for 2 plus months, but because I knew after about week they would become bored. I would spend hours trying to find things for them to do and still I would hear “I’m bored. There’s nothing to do.” I knew I couldn’t let another summer be this way. This guide helped me and my children find ways to make the summer unforgettable.

This book is full of great ideas. Some things are just common sense things like trying to find out from your children what they like to do and what will keep them occupied. Even these things can be a little tricky. If you have a child who only wants to play video games or watch movies you may have to put some time limits on those which this book talks about too. Finding things that relate to their video games or movies in the way of craft ideas or little outings is one way to keep them happy with their favorite interests.

Helping them to find new interests is a subject in this book too. For instance getting your child involved in reading. Whatever their interest may be you can always find a book that covers that. This book gives you tips on how to show your children their interest goes farther than just sitting in front of the TV.

I also like the crafts in this book. They seem pretty easy for any age child to do. There are tons of them and could keep your child busy for many summers to come. They are crafts that don’t require buying items that you may never use again. Great way to save on costs. They also appeal to me so I’m willing to help, watch and learn right along with my kids. That alone has made a big difference in how my kids look at doing crafts.

I also like the part about taking the time at the end of the day to do the ’10 minute cleanup.’ It’s made a big difference in how my kids react to this concept and they are willing to put forth the effort needed to help clean up from our fun day.

I’m looking forward to summer vacations now. My kids will be busy, happy and will even use some of that built up energy they all seem to have over the summer. I have never figured out how they can be so energetic in the summer months and not so much in the other months of the year. Anyway this book will help all of us have a great summer and be together with smiles on our faces and love in our hearts.

My verdict – GET THIS BOOK NOW.
